Update: Baylor Offensive Line Coach Mason Miller No Longer with Program
Baylor second-year offensive line coach Mason Miller is no longer with the program, SicEm365 has confirmed. ESPN’s Pete Thamel first broke the news.
"It's a personal matter with Mason,” head coach Dave Aranda said in his weekly press conference. “My heart, my thoughts and my best wishes for his future go out to him and his family."
After a resurgent ground game powered the Bears to close last season on a six-game winning streak, Baylor’s rushing attack has struggled mightily this year, despite returning four of its five starters on the offensive line.
To make matters worse, running back Dawson Pendergrass was lost for the season with a foot injury in fall camp, and Bryson Washington has dealt with multiple injuries as well.
The Bears are 13th in the Big in rushing yards per game (140.3), 12th in rushing touchdowns (10) and 12th in total yardage on the ground (1,122). The lack of a consistent ground game has put more pressure on the passing game in recent weeks, as the Bears have lost back-to-back games to TCU and No. 21 Cincinnati.
Miller came to Waco before the 2024 season after serving as the offensive coordinator at Tarleton State in 2023. Miller was a veteran of the Air Raid offense and was the offensive line coach for Mike Leach at Mississippi State (2020-22) and Washington State (2018-19).
