Baylor Star Cameron Carr Declares for NBA Draft, Doesn't Plan to Return to College
Baylor redshirt sophomore wing Cameron Carr has declared for the NBA Draft and plans to stay in the draft, according to Jonathan Givony.
Carr, the All-Big 12 Third-Teamer, had a breakout season, averaging 18.9 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. He shot 37% from beyond the arc, 49% from the field and 80% from the charity stripe across 34 contests.
Baylor men’s basketball has had a player selected in the first round in six straight seasons: Davion Mitchell (No. 9, 2021), Jeremy Sochan (No. 9, 2022), Keyonte George (No. 16, 2023), Ja’Kobe Walter (No. 19, 2024), Yves Missi (No. 21, 2024) and VJ Edgecombe (No. 3, 2025).
Most NBA mock drafts have Carr selected anywhere in the 12-to-30 range, and he is considered by many as the best athlete in the class.
The first round of the 2026 NBA Draft will be held on Wednesday, June 24, in Brooklyn, New York. If Carr were to change his mind and retain his college eligibility, he would have until May 27 to withdraw his name; the NBA Draft Combine will take place on May 10-17 in Chicago, Illinois.
