Baylor Basketball Retains Seven Players, Builds Continuity After Complete Roster Turnover
With the transfer portal window closing Tuesday, April 21, Baylor men’s basketball confirmed that seven players from its 2025–26 roster will return next season: Isaac Williams IV, Juslin Bodo Bodo, Maikcol Perez, Mayo Soyoye, Andre Iguodala II, James Goodis and Drew Perry. The group marks a significant shift from last offseason, when the program saw zero returning players.
Most notably, Perez and Soyoye are slated to stick in Waco, as there were some discussions about them going portalling. The duo bolsters the depth down low in the frontcourt. Perez is a 6-foot-8 wing/post player, while Soyoye is a 6-foot-10, 235-pound shot blocker. Both redshirted this season.
Perez is just 18 years old and was a late addition to Baylor’s 2025 recruiting class out of Bassano del Grappa, Italy; he was rated as the No. 41 overall prospect and a four-star recruit, according to On3’s 2025 rankings.
Soyoye was a late riser in the 2025 recruiting class. The Abuja, Nigeria, native was graded as a three-star recruit and listed as the No. 3 player in New Jersey and the No. 33 center in the country.
Williams IV is the headliner for next year’s roster and announced in mid-March that he would be signing a two-year deal to finish his collegiate career in Waco. He played in all 34 contests with the Bears, starting 14, and averaged 10.4 points and 3.3 assists while shooting 56% from the floor.
Bodo Bodo, a 7-foot-0, 250-pound athletic big man, won the Big South Defensive Player of the Year award in back-to-back seasons at High Point but missed the 2025-26 season with a wrist injury.
Iguodala II, the son of a four-time NBA champion, 2015 Finals MVP and 19-year NBA Veteran, was a three-star prospect in the 2025 recruiting class and redshirted this season as well.
Currently, the two stars from this year’s team — Cameron Carr and Tounde Yessoufou — are going through the NBA Draft process. Although Yessoufou entered the portal late Tuesday night, it’s believed that he stays in the draft.
At the time of writing this, the Bears have added four players in this year’s transfer portal cycle: Liberty sharpshooter Brett Decker, Penn State floor general Kayden Mingo, Yale wing Isaac Celiscar and UAB forward Evan Chatman.
With the 10 scholarship players slated to be on the 2026-27 roster, including incoming four-star freshman Elijah Williams, all of them have at least two years of remaining eligibility. Here’s the list of players with their grade classifications for the upcoming season.
- Guards: Kayden Mingo (So.) / Isaac Williams IV (Jr.) / Brett Decker (Jr.)
- Wings/Forwards: Isaac Celiscar (Jr.) / Elijah Williams (Fr.) / Andre Iguodala II (RFr.) / Maikcol Perez (RFr.) / Evan Chatman (Sr.)
