Spring Branch (TX) Smithson Valley High School 2027 safety Noah Johnson has committed to Baylor. He becomes the third safety commit in the 2027 class, joining Davontrae Kirkland and Devin Watkins.
BAYLOR 2027 RECRUITING COMMITMENT LIST
Baylor defensive coordinator Joe Klanderman extended the offer on May 7 and has been his lead recruiter during this process, telling Johnson he could thrive in his defensive scheme and at Baylor.
“He said he likes how I’m a ballhawk with speed and the physicality I bring with it,” Johnson said of Klanderman’s evaluation. “He also described how he sees my game would fit well as an open field safety at Baylor. He’s a great coach who knows a lot about the game. It’s always great talking and learning from a high-caliber coach like himself.”
His verified athleticism and size, with 4.4 speed, are a big reason the Bears have pushed so hard to land him. The 6-foot-3, 190-pounder finished his junior season with 58 tackles, 12 pass breakups and two interceptions.
Johnson is currently unranked nationally and chose Baylor over offers from BYU, Northwestern, UTSA, Wyoming, New Mexico, San Diego State and North Texas, among others.
