BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Baylor basketball wing Cameron Carr was selected by the New York Knicks with the 24th overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. The Knicks traded Carr to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for the 25th pick.
Carr is the seventh Bear to be selected in the first round of the draft in the last six years, joining Sacramento Kings guard Davion Mitchell (No. 9, 2021), San Antonio Spurs forward Jeremy Sochan (No. 9, 2022), Utah Jazz guard Keyonte George (No. 16, 2023), Toronto Raptors guard Ja’Kobe Walter (No. 19, 2024), New Orleans forward Yves Missi (No. 21, 2024) and Philadelphia 76ers guard V.J. Edgecombe (No. 3, 2025).
Head coach Scott Drew has also had Ekpe Udoh (No. 6, 2010), Perry Jones (No. 28, 2012) and Taurean Prince (No. 12, 2016) as first round picks.
En route to an All-Conference Third-Team selection this past season, Carr averaged 18.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists per game and 1.3 blocks per game.
After transferring from Tennessee, Carr had a breakout season as a sophomore at Baylor, scoring 642 points. He scored in double figures 32 out of 34 games.
Carr turned a lot of heads at the NBA combine measuring 6-foot-5 with a 7-foot-1 wingspan and a 43 inch vertical. His father, Chris, had a six-year stint in the NBA from 1995-2001.
