Baylor defensive lineman Hosea Wheeler has voluntarily dismissed his lawsuit against the NCAA and is now seeking a temporary injunction in order to gain immediate eligibility for the 2026 season.

Wheeler was originally part of the Pavia v. NCAA lawsuit challenging the NCAA rules that JUCO seasons count toward a player’s five-year eligibility window. However, the NCAA had yet to make a ruling on Wheeler’s particular situation, forcing the sixth-year senior to pivot to seeking a temporary injunction, the same path that saw Clemson wide receiver Tristan Smith and Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby both get ruled eligible for 2026, although Sorsby and Texas Tech later parted ways.

Last fall, the 6-foot-3, 300-pounder posted 31 tackles, four for loss, 11 quarterback pressures and two fumble recoveries as he played 420 snaps for the Hoosiers National Championship team.

Wheeler was a two-time all-conference player across three seasons at Western Kentucky before leaving for Bloomington. The California native began his collegiate career at Sacramento City College, where he totaled 24 tackles and 3.5 tackles.

This was probably the biggest pick up we had this off-season besides lagway. It's going to be a real kick to the egg rolls if he isn't ruled eligible

Such a mess, the whole of college sports.

Great news for the "We are so unlucky" crowd. This is a great foundation for building an excuse to give Dave more time.

This seems to be the "way" given how SLOOOOOW the NCAA is about responding. Take it to court and request an injunction! Side step the sluggish way the NCAA does things. Get an injunction, like others have done, and the court will allow him to play ... which will benefit Baylor ... a LOT !

This gives the NCAA the permission to NOT do its "job" once more, letting the legal system provide cover for ineptitude and cowardice. But the employees still get paid. Nice work if you can stand it.
