Spot on. I thought for a long time that a great football program was above Baylor's pay grade. Actually, leadership considers it beneath Baylor's pay grade.

ENMU's Briles announces first signing class

PORTALES New Eastern New Mexico University football coach Art Briles has announced his first signing class, which includes 19 mid-year transfers and 11 incoming high school prospects, with more expected in the near future.

"It's an exciting time for the Greyhounds," Briles said. "We look forward to welcoming all of these bright and talented players to our program. Our preparation for the 2026 season began in December and these individuals will help us carry it forward."

Briles' mid-year additions include several prospects with playing experience at high levels of collegiate football.

Mid-year additions are offensive lineman Ian Polk, Houston (Trinity Valley CC); Lucas Barrientes, Midland, Texas (Texas-Permian Basin), and Jaren Woods, La Grange, Texas (Baylor); running backs Jose Trevino, Lake Jackson, Texas (Sul Ross State) and Joey Fussell Jr., Houston (San Jose City College); wide receiver Demitrius Alexandre, Miami, Fla. (Highland CC); utility player Cash Hager, San Antonio; wide receiver Mikele Nash, Denver (Abilene Christian); utility player Trei Kibbles, Houston (Rice); quarterbacks Lake Bennett, Rockwall, Texas (East Texas A&M), Ryder Lambert, Stephenville, Texas (Tarleton State), Jake South, San Antonio (New Mexico Military) and Clifton Cooper, La Grange, Texas (Navarro CC); defensive lineman Grason Bridges, Allen, Texas (Fork Union); defensive end Michael Surface, Greenville, Texas (East Texas A&M); linebacker Immanuel Moore, Mansfield, Texas (Southern Nazarene); defensive back Caleb Jefferson, Clute, Texas (Bethel College), and defensive back Thai Scott and wide receiver Jaden Williams, both La Grange, Texas (Blinn CC).

The high school signees are quarterback Champ Mayo, Temple, Texas; defensive back Maddox Harold, Arlington, Texas; utility player Elijah Sanders, Sealey, Texas; offensive lineman Cameron Griffifn, Lindale, Texas; utility player Christian Mendoza, Springtown, Texas; running back Jayden Simpson, Madisonville, Texas; wide receiver D'Andre Thomas, Cameron, Texas; defensive lineman Luke Sides, Santo, Texas; utility player Jude Dunavin, Amarillo; defensive end Isaac "Ike" Klimchuck, Temple Texas, and running back Chase Hanosh, Castle Rock, Colo.

The 2026 Eastern New Mexico football season begins on Aug. 27 as the Greyhounds travel to New Mexico Highlands to open nonconference action.
