“It went amazing everything stood out to me but to be specific the coaching staff and the brotherhood that the team has really brought me in”, Watkins said. “I’ve talked to majority of the coaches there message essentially was to come home and I did.”
Baylor became the first Power Four school to offer Watkins in April, shortly after he clocked a 10.45 100-meter time during his track and field season.
The 6-foot-0, 180-pounder totaled 86 tackles, eight for loss, two sacks, three pass breakups, two forced fumbles and one interception during his breakout junior season at Poteet High School.
“They see me playing multiple places on the field and they like my versatility speed and aggression,” Watkins said. “Strong safety and nickle.”
Watkins is a composite three-star prospect and holds offers from Duke, Mississippi State, Tulane and Wake Forest, among others.
